Save Money and Time On Your Order: There are no setup or preparation charges added to your order if your artwork is submitted ready-to-use in production. This will also ensure timely shipment of your order. If you need for us to prepare or modify your artwork for you, we can do this at a rate of $55.00 per hour (one hour minimum), and we will need to talk with you about your needs before proceeding. Listed below are the guidelines for you to follow to save money and time:
There are only two kinds of artwork available to any of us:
Image art, which is made up of dots or pixels, like a computer screen or a photograph.
Vector art which is made up of solid lines, like in a coloring book, and which may be filled with colors just like the pictures in a coloring book.
Art Submission For Image Files: Artwork that is ready-to-use in production can be digitally submitted to us via an e-mail attachment or sent to us on a CD. All files must be in PC format (no MAC files). Acceptable file types are JPG, PSD, PDF, BMP, EPS, and TIF if your artwork is an image or has images placed in it as a part of the final artwork.
Resolution For Image Files: ALL image files must be saved at 300 DPI (from the original artwork) and at the final size of your desired product. Most internet graphics are not acceptable for printing as they are very low resolution, typically 72 DPI. Simply raising the DPI on a lower resolution graphic will not improve the quality.
In order to avoid miscommunication, it is best to provide us with a PDF file via e-mail or printed proof of how you want your final product to look. Please include any directions for color matches or material specifications you feel are necessary.
If you want us to send you a draft before production, this will be done via e-mail, in PDF format. There is no charge for the draft, but this may add 2-3 days to your production time, to allow for communications
Color Mode For Image Files: All printed work is created using a CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) color mode. If we need to match a specific spot color, you will need to provide us with the CMYK values. There may be slight color variations depending upon the media used for your final product. We cannot guarantee perfect matches.
If you have used graphics software, such as Photoshop, or if you have used a scanner to create your image file artwork, it is most likely in an RGB (Red, Green, Blue) mode. You will need to convert your artwork to a CMYK mode and make any necessary color adjustments before you send it to us.
Text Size In Image Files: Decorative and serif fonts that are 6 points in size, or smaller, may close up in the printing process and may become unreadable. Please try to use larger type sizes if possible.
Art Submission For Cut Vinyl Decals: All cut vinyl ("Die Cut") decals require vector art files (made up of line art, like a coloring book) to guide the computer driven plotters in cutting out the lettering or design for your final product. There cannot be any overlapping or intersecting lines. Each line must form a complete, enclosed object that the computer driven plotter can cut as one continuous motion. You can see if your artwork has a problem by viewing it in "wireframe" or "outline" format, depending on your software.
All strokes must be converted to outlines.
Convert ALL fonts to curves, paths, or outlines depending upon the software you used to create the file.
Acceptable files are: EPS, AI, PDF, CDR (8 or earlier), or Gerber PLT. These vector art files must be strictly line art and cannot have any images placed in them at all (no mixes of images and vector art).
Colors For Cut Vinyl Decals: Cut vinyl decals are done in one color only. The computer driven plotter only cuts one color of vinyl at a time. If you need a cut vinyl graphic in more than one color, each color will be cut separately and you will need to assemble the colors as you apply them.
As an alternative, we can print your decals in the multiple colors and then contour cut around them to preserve or create your desired shape.
Fonts For Cut Vinyl Decals: Since there are thousands of different fonts available to all of us, we may not have the specific font you want us to use in conjunction with your vector art file. Please do one of the following two things if you want us to match a font in your artwork: (1) Convert ALL fonts used in your file to curves, paths, or outlines depending upon the software you used to create the file. (2) Send us the font you used in your file so that we can install it on our hard drive.
The smallest available font size for cut vinyl is 1/2" in height; and, anything under 3/4" cannot have serifs.
